Cerused Oak Mezuzah with Brass Detail

The Design

Cerused oak was chosen for its open grain, which holds a pale filler and gives the surface a graphic, textured quality rather than a flat color. That texture works well against painted trim and cooler wall colors, where a warm wood can feel disconnected. A brass detail was added to keep some warmth in the piece and to relate to metal finishes elsewhere at the entrance. The oak was shaped with precision, the grain filled and finished carefully, and the brass fitted so the transition between the two materials stays crisp.
