The Design
The client wanted a mezuzah that would bring together two distinct details of the entrance: the stucco design surrounding the doorway and the color of the wooden door. Rather than treating it as a separate accent, I approached the piece as a continuation of the entrance itself. The segmented design gives the face a rhythm of raised surfaces and shadow lines, echoing the depth and texture of the stucco without copying it literally. Its rich brown tone connects it to the door, while the visible wood grain gives each section its own character. A small gold-toned Shin provides a quiet focal point and relates visually to the warm metal hardware nearby. Against the light doorpost, the result feels both distinct and connected—a mezuzah shaped by the textures and colors already present in the client's home.
